But, after all, what is the Maraca cut?

What is the Maraca haircut?

We talked to Ale Arrais, from Barbalhada, who told us a little about how the Maraca haircut came about.

"It came about in the following way: people who had longer hair at the ear or a little bit below the ear and wore a cap, when they took it off, the format of this cap was left on the client's head. So the hair on top was stuck to the head and the bottom parts were waved like a little wave, a little umbrella. And they liked this look and ended up wanting tocut your hair that way," he explains.

What was once accidental, because of the cap, is now done on purpose and has gained an audience.

How is the Maraca haircut done?

Most often the cut is made on those with straight hair, but it is not a cut restricted to this type of hair.

To make the cut, it is necessary that the hair be at ear height, no less, and it is also not good to be much longer. The cut, which is focused on the top of the head, can accompany an undercut with a gradient, or just shaved.

"We use an ointment to hold this top part closer to the head, then we make a brush to rotate the remaining hair and use a lacquer to lock it", explained Alê.
